Pursuing His Presence

The Bible encourages us to seek God’s presence:

“Now set your mind and heart to seek the Lord your God.” (1 Chronicles 22:19)

“If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.” (Colossians 3:1-2)

One of the best ways to do that is through worship and this is the purpose of these evenings –  we come together to seek God’s manifest presence. Yes, the Lord is always near to us, but we don’t always experience His presence. During this evening we are delliberatlly choosing to direct our hearts towards Him.

These events usually happen on the first Sunday evening of the month at 7pm at St. Mary’s. They are simply a time to come together to worship in an informal setting and last about an hour. There is no agenda other than coming together to seek the presence of God…

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

(Matthew 6:33)

The Lord looks down from heaven on all mankind to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God.

(Psalm 14:2)

Whenever God slew them, they would seek him; they eagerly turned to him again.

(Psalm 78:34)
